“I was scheduled to have abdominal surgery when I had my first appointment with Jamie for Acupuncture. I had been having severe abdominal pain, severe nausea, lightheadness and extreme hot flashes. These symptoms had been going on for more than a year and a half. I had undergone 4 CT scans, a colonoscopy, abdominal X-Rays, EGD, and many other GI tests and lab procedures. Unfortunately even with all of the testing the doctors weren’t able to come up with a real answer. The best guess they came up with was that I had abdominal adhesions, from previous surgeries. The doctors felt that was the cause of the abdominal pain. It still didn’t answer the question regarding my other symptoms. I was taking 3 different types of anti-nausea medications. I am unable to tolerate pain medication and stay awake so that was not an option. My quality of life was near zero. I never had a day that I actually felt good.
It was during my pre-surgical visit the doctor informed me that he could fix my abdominal pain for only a short period of time and there were no guarantees. In our discussion the surgeon actually suggested acupuncture. He stated, “sometimes east has to meet west for an answer”.
I was very doubtful. I have been a nurse for 30 years. Acupuncture was really a foreign concept for me. I, like many others, think that a drug or procedure will fix all of our symptoms. I have learned that is not true. I scheduled the surgery. I went home and discussed that conversation with my husband and son who felt I should go for it. I still was reluctant and thought about it for a few days. Both my husband and my son’s thoughts were; go with an open mind, you have nothing to lose and if it avoids surgery that’s a good thing.
I contacted Jamie to make my first appointment. We discussed my entire history, symptoms and medications very thoroughly. I then had my first treatment, the needles are not painful. It is actually a very relaxing experience. I started my treatments by going twice a week and it was amazing within two weeks I started to feel better. I was able to begin some of my normal activities. My drug intake of anti-nausea meds was greatly reduced. I continued with the twice a week treatments for a period of a couple of months. The better I felt led to once a week for a couple of months. I am currently going once every two weeks. I am 99.9% better. I still have some days where I may have a problem. If I do it only lasts for a couple of hours and passes without a need for medication. My quality of life is completely normal and I have no limitations.
I did cancel that abdominal surgery. I was not 100% sure of this treatment before I started. Now I tell everyone I know about it and suggest they go for any number of symptoms. I can honestly say, I am not sure how it works but it really truly does and Jamie is wonderful. She is very warm, compassionate, knowledgeable and willing to help in any way that she can. I have been undergoing acupuncture treatment for almost a year now. No matter how I feel when I go in, I know I will always feel much better after the visit. I personally recommend Jamie and her style of acupuncture treatment. It really does work!”

"I came to the Jacksonville Acupuncture Clinic with severe pain in my neck and upper back. My office had "redesigned" the office equipment- chairs, desks, etc... and I was having difficulty adjusting to the new "ergonomic" work environment. It's hard enough to sit in front of a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a day, but to be in pain because of it was just too much. I had never tried acupuncture before, but a friend at work said it helped his back problems tremendously.
Since coming to the clinic, Brandon has been absolutely fantastic in helping to get me back on track. He's been very enthusiastic about helping to ease my pains, and been dedicated to preventing them as well. My body has been making adjustments and I'm feeling great! “I can absolutely say that without Jamie Catlett, I wouldn’t be
pregnant today! I first went to see Jamie about a year ago. At that
time, I’d been working with a fertility doctor, trying to get
pregnant. I’d had a myomectomy to remove fibroids. I wasn't ovulating
on my own. I’d gone through a few medication cycles with Bravelle and
Clomid and I’d had 3 unsuccessful IVFs. I was heartbroken and thought
I may never get pregnant. From the start, I knew I’d made a great
decision by going to Jamie! She spent a great deal of time getting to
know me and learning about my fertility issues. She understood my
problems and expressed that she really thought she could help me.
Jamie genuinely cares about her patients and was so easy to talk to
from the start.
Things started improving after a few months of acupuncture treatment
with Jamie. For 20 years, my periods had been irregular, on 30-40 day
cycles. I always had terrible cramps leading up to and throughout my
periods. Because of acupuncture treatments my periods started coming
like clockwork, just about every 28 days. My cramps lightened up and
became much more manageable. This really was unbelievable to me after
sufferring for so many years. We worked on trying to get me to
ovulate, and Jamie recommended I consult with a Fertility doctor she
knew well. The Fertility doctor fully supported me having acupuncture
treatments while working with him. We did an IUI in June and I got
pregnant right away. I consider this a miracle! After years of trying
to get pregnant, I finally am and I can’t thank Jamie enough. I can’t
wait to welcome our new baby next March!”

Brandon was very helpful in relieving the pain from a repeated injury to my shoulder both before and after my surgery. Even though surgery was necessary acupuncture made the process much less painful and I would recommend it to anyone undergoing shoulder surgery.

“By the time I visited Jamie for acupuncture treatment, I was filled with anxiety and despair about my ability to successfully conceive a child. I had already endured a myomectomy to remove a very large fibroid, two HSG tests to check my fallopian tubes, extensive bloodwork to test hormone levels, a hysteroscopy to remove scar tissue from my uterus, and two miscarriages. We had been trying to conceive for two years. During this time, I had seen many friends conceive and have babies. A close friend had struggles similar to mine, however, and recommended I visit Jamie. I was a little skeptical at first, but after researching acupuncture I decided I really had nothing to lose.
Meeting Jamie, I understood why my friend liked her so much—she was a positive person without being unrealistic about my fertility situation. She listened to everything I had been through and told me she could help. I continued to see my RE, but supplemented fertility treatments with acupuncture. Jamie helped me through several disappointing rounds of ovulation induction, during which I had severe headaches and bloating. Ultimately, my husband and I decided to do IVF. The protocol was a lot more intense and the side effects more severe—I was happier than ever to visit Jamie and get relief from the hormones and stress. She even saw me twice on the day of my transfer in order to help me relax and give the procedure the best chance of working. Two weeks later, I finally got my BFP (big fat positive)—I was pregnant! I decided to try accupuncture after many months of unsuccessfully trying to conceive and not having normal periods. I have a friend that swears by acupuncture so I decided to give it a try. My first consultation with Jamie was extremely thorough and really linked all of my symptoms in a way that my doctor had been unable to do. Within a month of seeing Jamie I got my period after not having one for several months and now 3 months later I am pregnant with our first baby! “I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) in 2007. Since then I have been taking several drugs and hormones to help regulate my periods, but I saw no improvement. The next step was to see a fertility specialist, which meant more drugs and procedures. I was convinced that I would not be able to have my own child, or that I would have to pay thousands of dollars for artificial methods that had at best a 50/50 chance of working. I decided to take a different approach to healing. I had heard great things about acupuncture and I was willing to try it. I looked up acupuncturists around the Jacksonville area that worked with women who have infertility issues, and I found Jamie. After several months of treatment, I was finally ovulating. Jamie gave me hope that my body could work and that my husband and I could start a family. On March 1, 2010 (four months after I first met Jamie) I had a positive pregnancy test. I don’t think I have the words to thank her for helping me with my miracle.

Jamie has been my acupuncturist for over 2 years. I came to her after seeing two other acupuncturists in Jacksonville. Prior to coming to her, I believed that acupuncture could help my endometriosis pain but wasn’t completely satisfied with the other acupuncturists I had seen. One acupuncturist nearly had me convinced to spend several hundred dollars on some sub space machine so she could properly diagnose what she believed were ‘worms’ in my uterus. The other acupuncturist would have me wait normally for 20 or more minutes to be seen only for her to then forget I was in the room with needles in. Needless to say, when I came to see Jamie for the first time, I had a bit of a sour taste in my mouth about acupuncturists in general. It seemed prior to Jamie, that I was stuck with either a weird acupuncturist or an arrogant one. Thankfully, I quickly came to see that Jamie is truly a compassionate, caring and thorough practitioner.
As a sufferer of endometriosis, I was plagued by night sweats, cramps and pain in general. The pain I was having really improved after seeing Jamie and thankfully with her herbal teas, my night sweats are gone! From my first appointment with Jamie, she saw me right on time for my appointment and carefully listened to my history and symptoms. She followed up with me by phone after my treatment to check on me and see how I was feeling. Jamie truly has a heart for making people feel better & my trust in her just continued to grow from one treatment to the next. What I love about Jamie is that she is so caring, she thinks about me beyond just when I walk in the door for my appointment. She spends time researching my condition & ways to make me feel better. She has never made me feel blamed for my condition as another acupuncturist in Jacksonville had. Jamie sends me emails and calls to check on me because she really cares!
Over the last two years, I have referred at least 5 different people to Jamie for treatment including my husband. I can’t tell you how many times I prayed that my husband would quit smoking. It was causing such a rift in our relationship, he smelled bad and I was always so worried that he would wind up with something dreadful like emphysema or lung cancer if he didn’t quit. My husband went to Jamie for a couple of treatments & some herbs. He quit for a couple of weeks and then started again soon thereafter when he quit going to his treatments with Jamie. Several months later, he decided to try to quit again and Jamie gave him a different herb formula that did the trick! He is at the six month mark as a non-smoker and enjoying the benefits of clear lungs and breathing easily. His snoring has subsided & I am a very happy wife! My husband is a strong believer in the benefits of acupuncture and herbal remedies; he has also given referrals to Jamie because he has benefited from her treatment.
In addition to my husband, I have referred many of my colleagues to Jamie for treatment. One for allergies and sinus issues which of course Jamie was helping her immensely, another for digestive issues which Jamie has also been able to help make better as well. “I decided to seek out acupuncture after being diagnosed with PCOS by my OBGYN last year. It was a horrible experience to say the least…being offered no information by my doctor as to what this was or why I had it. I set out to get second opinions from several other doctors. I have known Jamie Catlett for over 16 years and while growing up with her I would have never of thought she would help me get pregnant, much less coach me through the whole process. I always had irregular menstrual cycles and was recently told by my obgyn that I did not ovulate, and that I had mini cysts on my ovaries. After trying Clomid and having an unsuccessful experience the doctor wanted me move onto more advanced injections of hormones. Nervous about the injections I turned to my friend Jamie for advice and comfort and she explained to me that she could help with acupuncture treatments and Chinese herbs. After 2 failed IVF attempts we decided to contact Jamie before we had our third IVF. Jamie was very polite and supportive in every way possible.
